How to reply to a glowing 5-star salon review

A 5-star reply is free advertising with a captive audience: every future client scrolling your reviews reads it. Thank the client for something specific, credit the stylist by name (it doubles as a retention tool), and never paste the same 'Thanks so much!!' under every review — readers notice, and so does Google.

Reply 1 · Warm and specific

Lerato, you've made our whole week! That copper balayage was a big change and you wore it beautifully — Chantel is still talking about it. See you for your gloss top-up in six weeks. — [Salon]

Reply 2 · Short and personal

Thank you, Lerato! It was so good having you in the chair — enjoy the new colour and give it that purple shampoo once a week. — Chantel & the [Salon] team

Reply 3 · Marketing-forward (mentions a service)

Ah Lerato, thank you! Balayage on dark hair is our favourite transformation to do. If any of your friends are nervous about going lighter, tell them the consultation is free. — [Salon]

Before you hit reply

  • Name the stylist — clients rebook people, not salons
  • Mention the service naturally; it's keyword text Google reads on your listing
  • Vary your openings; five identical replies in a row reads as a bot
  • Reply to the good ones as fast as the bad ones — most salons only answer complaints
